Last updated: January 2025
1. Overview
These terms govern all surf lessons, equipment rental and bookings made with Ericeira Waves (Ericeira Waves Lda, a company registered in Portugal). By booking any service, you agree to these terms.
2. Bookings and Payments
All bookings are subject to availability. A booking is confirmed only once payment is received and you receive a confirmation email. We reserve the right to cancel a booking due to unsafe conditions, insufficient demand, or unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued.
3. Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled lesson time. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable but may be rescheduled at our discretion. If we cancel your lesson due to unsafe conditions, a full refund will be issued within 5 business days.
4. Participation and Health
Participants must be in reasonable physical health and comfortable in water. You are responsible for disclosing any medical conditions, disabilities or limitations before the lesson begins. We reserve the right to refuse participation if we believe it would put you or others at risk.
5. Limitation of Liability
Surfing is an outdoor water sport that carries inherent risk. Ericeira Waves takes all reasonable steps to minimise risk, but we cannot be liable for injuries or losses arising from the inherent risks of the sport, provided all reasonable precautions were taken by our staff. All instructors are FPS certified and hold current Water Safety qualifications.
6. Equipment
All equipment provided by Ericeira Waves (surfboards, wetsuits, leashes) is regularly inspected and maintained. You are responsible for any damage caused through negligence or misuse.
7. Photography and Media
We may photograph or video sessions for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in any marketing material, please inform your instructor before the session begins.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.
